Erie FCU Offers Assistance Program to Members Affected by Government Shutdown

Erie, PA --- (October 28, 2025) - Due to the recent government shutdown and many families in the area receiving little to no income, Erie Federal Credit Union’s Management Team have decided to enact Erie FCU’s Loan Assistance Program

The Loan Assistance Program is a temporary relief option which allows Erie FCU to provide financial assistance to members affected by events such as natural disaster, large company-wide layoffs, business closures, government shutdowns, pandemics and other crisis or disaster situations. 

True to its mission of people helping people, Erie FCU is focused on providing eligible members temporary relief by offering a sixty (60) day loan extension on qualified loans. 

In addition, Erie FCU will be offering an unsecured loan with delayed first payment. 

Brian Waugaman, CEO of Erie Federal Credit Union stated, “Without a doubt, the Government Shutdown will have a negative financial impact on our community. Through good times and bad, we are here to serve our members and will make every effort to help them and their families through this challenging time.”
